CHRISTMAS PARTY AND INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS

On December 17, 2010, SI Malabon held it's Christmas Party and Induction of new members at Pescadores Restaurant. It was a night of laughter, great company, good food and gifts.

It was a fitting and fun way to end a very eventful year for SI Malabon.

SI Malabon’s 20th Founding Anniversary Celebrated

Last October 8, 2010, SI Malabon celebrated its 20th Foundation Day at Santi Yacht. It was a night of fellowship and cruising along Manila Bay with fireworks display and great food. The affair was attended by SI Malabon officers and members, and guests from the Metro Manila Northwest District.

SI Malabon Joins SI Navotas’ Organizational Meeting and Orientation as a Newly-Chartered Club

SI Malabon Officers and Members, led by President Jeannie Sandoval, shared their knowledge and experiences to SI Navotas during the organizational meeting and orientation at Club Filipino, September 21, 2010.

As a sponsoring club, SI Malabon helped lay the foundation for the SI Navotas to become a newly-chartered club.

Ms. Marilyn Ang, Charter President, Ms. Teresita Provido, President-Elect and Ms. Erlinda Ramirez, member of the Board of Directors of SI Navotas attended the meeting.

Officers of SI Malabon were inducted in a joint District Installation of Officers and Induction of New Members 2010-2012, of the SI Metro Manila Northwest District, held at the North East Greenhills Clubhouse, Mandaluyong City last September 15, 2010.

Soroptimist Week: Save the La Mesa Watershed

In celebration of the Soroptimist Week, SI Malabon members participated to the tree-planting activity dubbed as “Protect a Hectare, Save the La Mesa Watershed", on August 25,2010.

The preservation of the environment and promotion of a balanced ecology through tree planting is one of the annual projects of SI Malabon.

La Mesa watershed supplies water to at least 70% of Metro Manila cities.

Soroptimist Week: Malabon Soroptimists Display their Bowling Skills


Malabon Soroptimists had a great time showing their bowling prowess to Filipino international bowler Bong Coo. Ms. Coo stood as guest of honor at the Ten Pin Bowling Tournament held at E-Lanes, Greenhills, San Juan.

Coo coached SI Malabon members on how to play the game and left everybody awed and inspired by her impressive talent.

This tournament is one of the activities of SI Malabon for the Soroptimist Week Celebration last August 2010.

SI Malabon Receives Honors from SIA and SIPR

Several recognitions were received by SI Malabon led by President Jeannie Sandoval from the Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) and the Soroptimist International Philippines Region (SIPR).

SI Malabon was named by SIA as a Bronze Club for its annual contribution to the 2009-2010 Annual Club Campaign last July 2010.

Under the Women Opportunity Awards (WOA) program, SI Malabon was declared as runner up for its nominee, Sherylyn Francisco, with a grant of US $3,000 that she can use to study and finish an education degree. Francisco is the breadwinner of her family. The award was conferred on February 18, 2010 at the Manila Yacht Club.

The club also received a certificate for achieving the goals of the Renaissance Campaign during the Biennium 2008-2010 at the SIPR Fontana Conference last May 20, 2010. It was also recognized for its participation to the 2010 Women Opportunity Awards (WOA). Meanwhile, President Jeannie Sandoval was awarded with an Honorable Mention, Governor’s Award 2009-2010.

PNPWC Project Gives Legal Aid to Women


To protect the interest of women in society, the PNPWC (Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Desk) Project of SI Malabon rendered legal aid to two women before their cases were set for preliminary hearing.

With the help of SPO4 Nemia Resumadero, SI Malabon PP Odette Tiu and member Jeannette Mendoza, a woman named Leticia Bondoc was assisted before the said proceeding.

Also, another woman victim, Regina Villanueva, received free legal assistance from SIPR PNPWCD Chairperson Atty. Guia Martinez. SI Malabon Member Jeannette Mendoza witnessed the said counseling at Atty. Martinez’ residence on June 27, 2010. Villanueva’s case was set for hearing last June 30, 2010.

Malabon Residents Get Free Livelihood Training

A livelihood project seminar on soap making for informal settlers of Malabon was sponsored by SI Malabon on January 2010. Free training on detergent powder, fabric softener, toilet bowl cleaner, dishwashing liquid, perfume, cologne and disinfectant making were given. SI Malabon provided the materials for making detergent powder and helped the attendees with packaging and marketing ideas of their products.

SI Malabon members Amy Santos, Deanna Rose Santos and Lilibeth Chua were present during the seminar.
